What a lovely day! Had to take the Morris out, bought fuel and off to Southend - along the front a couple of times saw a lovely Austin Seven trundle past, then on route to Basildon a small convoy comprising Humber Snipe, Austin 1100, Singer Vogue and a Herald.
Lovely to see the old uns out and about.

I organised a run from Oxford to Avebury stone circle and on to the motor museum at Calne. I led the convoy in my Series MM.
We had a picnic lunch in the car park at Avebury which when we arrived was already occupied by a Riley Car Club rally so we squeezed into a corner of the field and had a good look over their cars. An added bonus.
I can thoroughly recommend a visit to the Motor Museum at Calne. If it was not for the sign on the front gate one would suppose that one was driving into somebody's private bungalow. We drove around the back and the place appeared deserted. I tried the door to the barn which was unlocked and found a couple of old fellows chatting in the corner. I was assured the museum was open. A modest entry fee gives access to a vast assortment of cars and motor cycles crammed into the main warehouse and several annexes. There seems to be no logic, just old cars side by side, anything from '20s to '80s. Each car has a printed specification and history.
Many of the limosines, Rolls Royce, Jaguars, Daimlers and Cadilacs etc earn their keep as wedding cars and there is a warehouse full of unrestored '70s and '80s cars. Many of the cars are donated and others picked up for a few pounds.
We spent a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours at a place that most people did not know existed.
Oh and the weather was perfect as well!!!

My Morris is finished in Empire Green - an original colour but now in cellulose paint as opposed to the synthetic original.
Sounds like you had a good day out then Mike and a place well worth a visit! (any photos?)
In previous years I thought I remembered seeing far more 'classics' unless this was just my memory letting me down, particulary as it was a super day and no excuse for staying at home in the dry?
