The horn is not working on Albert and he has an MOT first thing in the morning and I doubt I have the time to investivgate. I know that some items are not obligitory but if they are fitted they have to work. If I were to take the horn unit off would it pass without?

Check that the spring-arm inside the steering wheel boss is connected to the stator that takes the feed from the horn push - this is a fiddly job that will require many expletives to get right.
Remove and re-connect the terminals on the horn unit a few times to make sure there is a good connection.
Must have 'audible warning' for MOT. Not sure if a bicycle bell would do the trick ? Sure the fuse hasn't blown ? Check the fuse and the little clips that hold it - wiggle it about and see what happens !
You get 7 days for the free re-test anyway don't you? It's a tad irritating but if you can't fix it in time you may have to use Sunday to get it working again. Just a thought....

Put a bicycle bell on. So long as that works, when the horn push doesn't the tester's "using the old unit: press this one here"? [Daft, me, as if?!] ;-)
you can get bike horns - with a rubber ball and a trumpet... I had one when we went to Africa

Paul K let me use the horn from (the nearly complete) Millie. Thanks to him Albert passed.
On removing Alberts horn I found something inside was rattling.
