EXPLODED PANELS

Is there a site which has a decent exploded diagram with all the repair panels and what they're called....with large pics of each of the panels??

Need repair panels for the Traveller..Mostly sill sections, need to know what goes where LOL

Any links, pics, help, etc would be very grateful

Just a note on the sill repair panels for the traveller. The exploded diagrams that I've seen don't show the strengthening panel that the traveller and convertable need.
This is a long C section strengthener that follows the inner sill step and drops down to follow the inner sill section at the front.

The Morris Minor Centre in Birmingham sell these sections and if you ask for the sill sections for a traveller they will tell you you need the strengthener. Amazingly Bull Motif told me they'd never heard of it, but it is defenitely fitted on an original traveller to strengthen the chassis. Saloon doesn't need it as its monacoque (if that's spelt right).

The last floor and strengthener sections didn't line up (as you can see on the top photo) but with a bit of abuse with a hammer, cutter and welder, things started working again.

Just not sure what goes where and in which order! ...Does the sill strengthener go on before of after the inner sills? ...ive have alot of rust and gaps where metal SHOULD be :lol:

If you fit the strengthener, I fitted it to the floor section which I replaced.

Hi

Im just doing the sills on the traveller and am trying to source the sill strengthener. Theres one shown on the Nordisk minor site part No. CHS260
but as you say cant find one in the UK.

Incidentally Britab has installed it in completely the wrong position! It should be vertical and within the step sill to which it is spotwelded and not horizontal. The reinforcement has the seatbelt mounting nut welded to it instead of to the step sill.

I will when ive done it!

I just spoke to Charles Wares and they said that when doing a convertable they use a second inner step sill cut down. and grind off the seatbelt mounting on one so they can double it up.

Here is the link to the Nordisk site its item no. 34 you can just see the seatbelt mounting hole. It goes the other way up to the picture.

Sorry I can see that britabs reinforcer is welded into the inner step sill.

and is a C section. I just hadnt realised that the bottom of the c was so wide.

No wonder they rust.... what a rust trap this creates!

I'm so glad that you had the chance to reply before I did.
As far as I can see it's impossible to weld it in the wrong orientation. As you say it has the seat belt mounting point on it so it would be pretty pointless welding it with the nut against the outside edge of the sill section.
The Morris Minor Centre, Birmingham sell the strengthening section.

p.s. it's horizontal in the picture because the car is on it's side.
It is soooo much easier than when I did the other side lying under the car with hot metal falling on me.

You are right about the rust trap as it completely covers the drain holes in the inner sill. If you havent gone to far, like I have, it might be worth drilling a hole in the right place so that the sill can drain.

Yes -- didnt see the c section initially as bright in the photo - Ill try Birmingham thanks. Also I think I will trim the bottom flange down to about 15mm and can then spot weld to the outer floor panel same as the boxing panel as this will reduce the rust trap slightly! and leave drain holes clear.

Will still be plenty of strength I think as generally people dont know this panel exists and there must be lots of travellers out there without them.

Did you look at the Nordisk panel, does it look the same as the one you fitted ie with the slant at the rear by the seatbelt mounting?

Yes the section came down a little at the rear from what I remember. The photo's I took of this assembly don't show it very well.
As I was replacing the floor and sills, I welded the strengthener to the sill step (which was part of the floor panels as I bought half floors) before welding in the floor.
I had already welded the boxing plate in place before removing the sill step and floor to keep the shape (with addition of cross bracing across the door and between B posts)
