Unnerving, to say the least!

Why was it on a low loader in 2001 then? Had someone nicked it, or did you sell it? Did it just vanish? When you say "pride and joy", would it have been anyone else's pride and joy had they acquired it, or was it in fact a case of "Yes, it's a crock of s@*t, but it's my crock of s@*t"?

Traded it in when we bought the traveller. It needed vast amounts of welding and parts for the MOT, and we didn't have a welder/contacts/knowledge in those days.

A friend at college had sold his project van. 2 years later I aquired a project van - when he saw it, he noticed my van had his rear doors...

The bootlid with live again! I'm putting it on the convertible as that appears to have a Series II one (holes above reg plate for boot emblem - although filled)

These days we'd have just welded in new floor panels and Miriam would probably still be on the drive

I had a lovely V8 "S" about 20 years ago and I couldn't keep up with the welding back then when the car was only about 6 or 7 yrs old... Went like stink though

I had 2. Loved them and at the time the only car I could get 3 car seats across the back seat and still close both doors! They had every luxury as well - electric windows on all doors when most cars only had front ones. The automatics were very smooth. It was like driving a double bed I moved on to an 827 with the Williams Honda engine now that shifted - the "G" force knocked you back into the seat. My current one is a 15 yr old 800 auto. When it gives up I shall look for another SD1. Don't like the plastic-ness of the current modern ones available.

I love the look of the 75 from the outside at least. Thought I might own an estate some time - then I saw the interiors and the strange colour combo's for the dash and steering wheel Put me right off

My traveller came from Gloucestershire but was owned 15 years before by a friend of mine in Southampton.He recognised the red lead and welding!Even though it somehow had a different reg.

My party trick with the V8 SD1 was to put it in 5th gear, release the handbrake, slip the clutch up to 250rpm and drive away. That's what you call a flexible engine. Would have loved a Vitesse but decided I couldn't keep up with the rust. Went for a SIII XJ6 Daimler Sovereign instead.

i had someone knock on my door a few weeks ago. They had noticed my morrie sitting in the driveway. Turns out that about 20 years ago it was their pride and joy. Shes looking sad now, but they were well pleased to see it being restored
