Wiring up a Radio?

Post by Bretta »

Hi there,

I'm trying to connect a radio to my moggy and just wondered where I take the live feed from?

My car is negative earth, my radio will be negative earth and I know I have to earth the radio to a part of the car. Which wire or where do I connect the positive to?

Sorry to have to ask this age-old question ... I did some searches on the forum but nothing was clear to me.

thanks in advance.

PS. Forgot to add the I want the radio to work regardless of whether the ignition is on or not. I won't be fitting a radio that has channel presets, so no need for any complicated wiring.

Simple 2 wire connection - 12v feed from the fusebox under the bonnet and earth to the underdash area near to where you mount the radio.....

Yes, anywhere that is showing 12v with your test lamp or meter and put an inline fuse in the wire from fusebox to radio.

If you replace your ignition switch with one of these (380116234946)
on ebay. you can use the ACC to power the radio. I have just bought one and it looks the same as the original
