From memory there is a plain white wire that goes to the + side of the coil (- if you still have posative earth) then there is a white wire with a black trace that connects to the other side of the coil, and another white wire with a black trace that goes to the body of the dizzy.
I wasnt getting a spark from a dizzy that hadnt been used for some time, I ran some wet and dry through the points to remove the build up of corrosion and all was well

the dizzy works by by making and breaking an earth, if the side of the points that move are constantly earthed you wont get a spark. There should be an insulating sleeve that goes between the loop on the back of the points and the pillar with the bolt, its top hat shaped. The wire from the condensor is then bolted on to this, but rests on the rim of the hat so it doesnt touch the points...
does that make any sense?
the other thing to do is to get a 12v bulb and attach some wires. Attach one end to the posative side of the batt and the other terminal to the one on the side of the dizzy. when you turn the engine over the bulb should flash on and off
