Hi frank wel I am not to sure about winscreens but years ago I used to buy write offs 2/3 months old but only to reshell them so I was often left with side and rear windows some had reg numbers on and a friend in the trade used to polish them out so I could use them again on the next car but if you run your fingers on the said area you could feel a slight dip in the glass so I am not to sure if it would work on winscreens unless there is a way of doing it in an even wayy

If it's just a small scratch - it can be polished out using 'jeweller's rouge' - which is iron oxide (ie RUST) powder, and large amounts of elbow grease. It did remove an short 'arc' scratch from a Fiat screen some years ago - it took me ages - just doing a little bit each evening.

Says it even removes scratches made by cats. I know their claws are sharp, but up to scratching glass??

I used cutting paste - but that made the glass 'matt' - and so had to polish it up with the jewellers' rouge and finally brasso. Jewellers' Rouge - surprisingly, can be bought at a good Jeweller's shop!
I think you will be there till Christmas with toothpaste!

Will it work on cars other than minors??
Sorry about that, someone had to pick it up, thought I'd beat the usual suspects to it
BMC, thanks for the "so-obvious-that-its-not-obvious" comment about jewellers rouge- I need to do some screen polishing after fitting cheap wiper blades, and was wondering where to get it!
