Fuel Pump

Post by katiekat »

The switch inside my fuel pump is quite loud and clicks away constantly like a ticking clock.

Is this normal or is there a problem?

The car runs ok but was left standing for a year before I got it.

Thanks for any advice! :D

I replaced the pump that was fitted to my car (it had a blue end cap) with an SU pump as the noise was objectionable, loud and harsh.
You can still hear the pump if you listen but it is a much "softer" sound.
Someone here has mounted a later pump on rubber mounts to stop the noise inside the car.

That noise is part of the Karma (!!) - each 'tick' is 10p worth of fuel!

Fuel pump

Post by Declan_Burns »

MarkyB,
I mentioned the anti-vibration mount on an earlier post-http://www.morrisminoroc.co.uk/index.ph ... c&start=15
An easy mod and it works very well indeed. You can still hear the clicking but it stops the clunking-at least you know it's working.

Yes - not constantly but when it gets hot eg if you're stuck in traffic
