Core plugs

Post by lynda »

Are the core plugs on a 1275 Midget engine the same as on the 1098 Minor engine? The ones on my car are leaking slightly and I'd like to get some replacements!

Thank you :)

Try tapping them with a hammer. they might seal.

...or they might break entirely / fall out??? I don't think I'd feel happy trying that without some spare ones, just in case it all went wrong!

Best to get the correct plugs - the 1098 plugs may be the same as 'some' of the plugs on the 1275 engine - but not the back end plugs - if they are the leakers ? If they are leaking - it's either rust - or the block has been frozen and the plugs have bulged outwards.

Hi Lynda the core plugs are not the same size as the the 1098 ones you need the ones for all a+ engines and 1275cc engines (not cooper S) they are 33.6mm, the 1098cc ones are 41.4mm. They are available from Mini spares if you dont have a local MG spares place.
Cheers

Which is just as well as I never want to have to change another b1**dy core plug again!
