We always seem to get quite a few who moan about the distance they would have to travel to get to the National Rally well to put things in perspective I have recently been in contact with someone from Downunder and its going to take them 3 days driving to get to their National and for some its even further.
So I am putting this map up to give you an idea of the mileages involved, so if anyone over here complains about the distance to our National (no wonder we are nicknamed winging poms) they should be blindfolded and placed against a wall.
If you look at the bottom of the map you will notice that the whole of Europe is under half the size of Aussie.

I agree with that. Had a chat about the Aussie Nat. over Easter. People are travelling from Perth (west coast) to Brisbane (east coast) for the rally. Unfortunately I will miss it.
As I have said many times before Kevin, it seems that most people on here prefer to restore, modify, work on, or talk about their cars rather than drive them

I try to use mine a week each, minor one week, modern the next and so on so they both get regular use, but the minor does seem to get the most use of the 2!!
My father drove from Perth to Darwin in a 57 two door in 1980. Took him 8 days. The road through the NT was fairly ordinary back then, single lane bitumen (mostly) shared with 3 trailer road trains, roos and bullocks ( that's BULLOCKS you wise guys). He went 'Up The Guts', through Kalgoorlie and Alice Springs. I'd like to do the reverse trip, perhaps down the West Coast or even straight down 'The Track' to Adelaide. I have a bit of pondering and preparation to do though. I also need to get the Minister for Domestic Affairs to sign off on the Bill. With a bub due in July, I can't see the trip eventuating for a couple of years. More time to plan, ponder and horde parts...

I drive mine nearly all the time it's got an MOT, which is usually about 50 weeks of the year. I don't own any modern rubbish so it's classic sports car driving for the next couple of weeks - and it's virtually summer at the moment.
Never done more than a couple of hundred miles trip in the Minor though so I'm still a bit of a wimp really.
