Clutch Probs

Post by Matt »

Hi Guys

I have fitted a type 9 with a hydraulic clutch. (this is because I have a marina pedalbox).

I have a slight problem with the plumbing. I cant get a leak free join between the last bit of solid pipe and the flexi.

Does anyone know the threads on the cylinder ends of the front flexi's? I have been able to screw a piece of solid brake pipe from a minor (I think it was the T piece to rear cylinder) into the clutch slave (midget) and i was thinking I could use a piece of brake flexi and a solid pipe

Minor front flexis are 3/8" UNF. You may be trying to connect to an M10 x 1 fitting ?? Rear cylinders on Minors are 3/8" BSF - not the same as 3/8" UNF, the BSF is coarser. I will be surprised if anything else is 3/8" BSF - only parts I know are Minor rear axle brake connections.

The leak is where the plastic flexi pipe joins on to the solid bit because its just a push fit! Im looking for something that goes into a spridget slave cyl.

Do you know what the thread on that or a mini clutch slave is Roy?

Well, a push on fit is never going to hold any worthwhile hydraulic pressure- Mini slave is certainly 3/8" UNF.

I will give the minor front flexi a go then :)

I agree the push fit is a rubbish idea and it came from a marina
