"new" rear wings?

Post by croft »

Hi all, I have now reached the point where I need to decided, should I go for "new" rear wings or repair the ones I have. The ones I have are not to bad overall but the edge where they bolt to the car is almost non existant. One had been welded on to the car (in a totally wrong position!) the other had been removed or fallen off! and a different colour one was supplied with the car when I bought it. Im not sure if they are original or have been replaced in the past. So..... I'm tempted to go for new ones but I'm unsure as to how difficult they will be to fit or line up correctly. Anyone have any experiance with pattern, uk made, heritage or any other types out there?

Rear wings (pattern) from Bullmotif fit great. I've fitted 3 so far and they have all been OK - It's the fronts that are the offspings of unmarried parents :-)

My original high cut wings were sound apart from parts of the mounting flange, I ground it all off repaired the wing edge and made a new mounting flange, then sold them and bought a pair of new ones! Seemed a good idea at the time?

I got mine from ESM - they were standard 1000 wings modified to suit. I did have to alter the rear light cut out though as mine are the early glass lens lights

Ok thanks - I'll check them out but I will have to do the rear light cut out too so I guess they are only doing the same as I am doing. I see alot of cars with the wrong rear wings on them so there must be a market for the correct ones... If only I can make them commercially viable :-)

Normally takes me about 1/2hr - 1hr to modify a wing to a high cut one, though few people bother with the dfficulty or expense or even appreciate the difference. Nice to see folk who do care!
cheers

Thanks PSL, good to know there aer some decent panels out there! Just out of interest, do you know who produces them? are they made specialy for BM or by that well know panel co. H*****n? I can get "H" panels locally and save on postage but if there made for BM by someone else I will just have to bite the bullet and pay the hefty postal charges.

I'm not sure who makes them but I believe postage is free from BM if your order is over £50 ?

Yeah thats what I thought but the small print says; excludes wings, interior trim, engines, gearboxes and a number of low margin items!

Same as this one.... but I don't think they say the "H" word on them, but the numbering system and font / layout etc is the same.
