carb icing up

Planes have carb heaters.

Maybe a "T" off the heater hose, copper pipe wrapped around the mouth of the carb to run hot water around it. You probably don't even need to complete the curcuit back to the heater hose, just blank it off and it'll gently warm the carb once the engine warms through.

A fiddly solution, but quite elegant I think :roll: and you can say it has aerospace technology on board :roll:

Well,
Talking aircraft carb heaters - and seeing dear old Tog is clever with the tooling - perhaps he should copy them! RR Merlins overcome the problem by passing hot oil through the butterfly spindle into a hollow butterfly plate. Should be fairly easy - afterall they're SU carburretors on the Merlins! MikeN.

decisions to much info for my little old brain got Bettis in a million bits new parts coming, Lambretta in bits, gearbox on one of removal vans spat oil out on the clutch ,stood in the middle thinking which way do I go [out the gate and down the road I think] off to doctors for more tablets. will post how I get over the iceing when I get sorted
