I've just done one half of the engine bay with CIF oven cleaner and the other half I will be doing in Mr Muscle - very impressed with the CIF so far. I will report back on the other.

Dont use that, it dissolves pennies, so imagine what it will do to the car......

I think I'd try it on a small area out of sight first just in case. I went with the oven degreaser and that really worked well.

I couldn't find cillit bang oven cleaner so its not in the test - Mr Muscle works no better (or worse) than CIF so I think its a draw

i have used oven cleaner in the past to strip paint
The no odour ones(the ones that are less harmful) dont strip paint as well

Panel wipe will do the job very well and will not harm your paint. About £10 for 5 litres for the good stuff.

The best one I've found is called KABOOM, I think it came from Wilkinsons, obviously a rip off of cilit BANG but it seems to work better...
