Yes, long time ago. Funnily enough recently I was working with someone who helps out at a group and we got talking on the politics of its formation. Very interesting topic. I was also in the cubs at the time and remember the contrast in philosophy well.
If you're not already aware of it, you might like this site a lot:
Its a great site. We have been doing more and more bushcraft on camps Biviis and the like. I have been a woodie leader for about 18 years . I have been to a meeting in London just today talking aboutr raising the profile of woodcraft folk. I think that i didnt get lots of people recognising the emblem just show how much work we need to do.
I was a member of Woodcraft Folk too, for years and years. I think it's excellent, although the name still makes me wince when I say it. If I didn't seem enough of a geek before I explain about it I really do afterwards

Did you say 'wince'? -I used to help with the Elfin group in Portsmouth ...I remember we debated the lyrics of "Family of Man" and decided that the choice should be left to the individual, so the proponents of "it's the family of MAN..." would attempt to out-shout those who favoured "it's the family of PEOPLE..." ...this was not untypical. Happy days
