Totally agree there Dennis!
Excellent day with good weather to start!
Met a lot of people and finally saw the 2 V8 tin-tops in the flesh as well as Toginthemogs Pick-up!
Shame about James bonnet hinge. I hope he got home ok.

The heavens opened near Heathrow as I drove home and it didn't stop until I reached Hertfordshire!! With no roof, in early spring(?!) that's no joke.
I've just about dried out now

See you there next year!

Cheers

Martin :D

I was worried that my little pickup might look like a heap against all the nice shiny models however what a nice surprise. What a great friendly bunch - drove home thinking what a great little motor I've got :-) Oh - it did leak on my head and down my neck - I'll take that advice and get some sealant in there soon. I think I'll leave trying to get the rubber in until I get the body spruced up a bit.

Great day, Great convoy. Was good to meet up with other ESMMC members. 9 vehicles were present.Sorry we missed some goodbyes as we left straight after the photos on the banking as my car was filling up with water. The downside of owning a convertible i suppose. I hope you got back at a reasonable time Alan -toginthemog- We all loved your modded pick up .Will meet up in the summer.

Heres an 'on the banking' picture:
Image
Bit of a window of opportunity as we were about the last car to join the convoy and had just enough time after arriving at the back of the line up to get out, rush along the slippery banking to take the picture, before the first cars moved off... Must be the shortest time spent parked up there! Really bad timing as that was the worst of the downpour, but for those who stayed afterwards it brightened up again for a while...
(We're inthe convertible with the tan hood just visible in the far right back corner!)

We did take a video of the parade, both from a static veiwpoint and from the convertible with the hood down (till the rain got too heavy). Not seen if its any good yet, but may be able to supply copies if anyone wants one.
cheers
Iain

Stevey and me just got home about an hour ago. It was a great day out, just a shame the weather changed and most people headed off home. We met a few of the messageboards users and I would certainly go back again!

Yes a good day out, I also put faces to a few messageboard users... :-)

Trip home was ok except the windscreen rubber started to leak, then sealed its self...

I really enjoyed this years event, despite the bitterly cold wind and torrential down pour during the parade lap along the remaining section of banking.

After its prolonged sojourn in garage, it was good to get my Minor out and about again, although the trip did show me how desperate the pick up needs an engine rebuild. Although the Oil pressure is still quite healthy the bottom end was making some very worrying noises during the trip home around the M25. although it did take my mind off my faulty Voltage regulator!

Having not attended for several years I was surprised to see only two traders in attendance, is this a sign of the times or has the trade generally deserted the event. And did I miss the LCV register, as in the years that I previously attended Dave Thomas would normally be in attendance promoting the LCV side of Minor ownership.

Lastly I would like to thank Julian Temple and his team at Brooklands for making the day so enjoyable.

I will post a few photos tomorrow.

Gary.
