June is out for me, fully commited. Note other rally dates.
7th June - Southern Regional
13-14th June - Series MM
21st June Hampshire Branch, Portsmouth Dockyard
25-28th June - National Rally
The calendar is less busy in May.

Maybe you should clarify this with them Mike.

However I still seem to recall that the subject of Club insurance was discussed on more than one occassion in the past, and that it was stated that where two or more MMOC members were gathered together with their cars, the event would be covered by MMOC liability insurance. I also believe that this was minuted, I shall delve further.

Thats the princepal we work to when organising places to go etc, we also recently queried with the MMOC insurers where we stood with our own branch rallys as regards non club members and non minor visitors and have been assured that as it is a branch organised event anyone attending is covered.

Apparently there's not a problem when the event is organised by a branch. However it was my, and apparently others view, that events did not have to be organised by a branch. These could equally be organised by anyone, provided that they were members of the MMOC, and still be covered by the club's insurance.

I have asked the club to clarify this, as well as a number of other issues, but as yet have received no response.

The Insurance matter was brought up at a pre AGM Liaison meeting in I think 1996 when there was a big hooha in the classic press about Public liability for rallies.

At that meeting my memory is that Sandy Hamilton stated that if any MMOC member organised a rally or a stand at a steam fair etc and displayed an MMOC sign/banner then the whole event/stand was covered by the MMOC insurance even if non members attended the event/stand. The only proviso was that any marshalling had to be done by MMOC members.

I agree this would normally be a branch thing but I believe the wording was an individual mmoc member.

Thanks Roger, that's exactly how I, and a number of other members, remember it also. Unfortunately the commitee are now saying otherwise, and despite me asking them for clarification, they have not yet responded.

Not read the whole discussion but I think I get the jist of it.
Without stirring things up why can't the MMOC supply each member with a seperate insurance cover included in their membership fee..

I have been a member of one of my local clubs for a number of years and each member receives a Public Liability ins; cert; to the value of £5,000,000 included in their subs which is only £8 per year.... the cover is jointly for the society and it's individual members whilst attending/exhibiting at rallies as part of the society or it's rep; this is issued by Footman James.

If this has been discussed already I apologise...
The Club in question only has about 200 members and is still growing, I do have the cert; if you would like me to scan it.

Hey, only just read this thread, seems like a great idea. I work in the estates department of the Royal Marines Museum but I think the Royal Armouries would be more interesting for the majority to wander around.

Also, just to throw another idea in, I am very good friends with the guy at the top of the Hollycombe Steam Collection http://www.hollycombe.co.uk/. If anyone is interested we could meet there and drive down to the Armouries. or I'll just shut my mouth!

I think that if you're arranging it Matt, you should simply ask the club in writing to recognise it as an official MMOC event. Safer for all concerned. I have done exactly this for MOT-UK.

The Club has never had a problem with recognising web rallies as far as I'm aware.
I'm not sure what's got bill wopund up but here's how the !st Web rally went:

We suggested the idea and got into planning it.
Andrew Booth (web master) discussed with the committee as all previous rallies were by national rally team or by branches.
The committee did not have a problem as loong as normal rules were followed - rally organisers and marshals (we didn't need marshals) had to be club members and the club to be informed of the rally.
This seems only fair and perfectly acceptable to me.

A number of the web rallies have been advertised in the club mag and nearly all* have received very good coverage of write ups after the event.

(* AFAIK the only web event that missed a Matters article was because the same article had already been published in another Minor magazine)

Ray, at the moment I am having enough problems of my own, and with respect, if you had bothered to check you would have seen that I have not posted for some time, and for you to post something like this, rather than sending me a PM first, does not help matters.

However I feel I must now clarify openly on here that I too had no concerns over insurance issues, bearing in mind that this had previously been raised at an AGM. The only reason I originally suggested this to Matt was that for some unknown reason the committee, through a non committee member, had made it quite clear in a formal email that I must get official approval of MOT-UK if it was to be covered the Club's insurance. In view of this I felt that if I was not simply being singled out for special treatment, then this same rule must also be applied to any other events organised mainly via this website. And, incidentally, as with all of my posts on here, the matter was taken up directly with the committee.

You ask what has got me wound up? To be honest, it is things like this, together with people who are prepared to complain to others about certain comments I have made, as apparently they haven't got the courage to come to me direct, and also variety of other recent matters which I have no intention of raising on here, but rest assured if you were aware of, would probably wind you up too.

Sorry! Like I said, it was my mistake thinking yours was a new post with complaints.

Genuine mistake - possibly not helped by the mindless morons who were making a nuisance in the street at 2am [shouting a lot and kicking cars to see if they could set the car alarms off ] Quite a few cars did indeed have alarms, and now some fresh dents too.
