Wood effect dashboard etc
I have recently bought my first Moggy but would of liked something like a Wolsely 1500 because I like old cars to have a bit of wood on the dashboard etc. I was thinking of putting some wood effect stick on sheet around the speedo and possibly the heater panel front. You could buy this in walnut of mahogany effect and when applied well it loks quite effective. I am also watching some walnut veneer on Ebay. Just wondered if any of you experts have done it to a Moggy and what it looks like. There is scope to put wood cappings on the doors, footwell step etc

Hi EddyQ,
Have you considered making up a door or instrument panel to fit within the glove box aperture behind the steering wheel. On mine I fitted a row of auxiliary instruments and it looks quite effective. I will try to post a few shots tomorrow evening.
I would not veneer the foot well step at all, not enough strength in this application. As for the other bits and pieces the veneer should not really be applied directly to the metal, it can be done but in my experience as a joiner, you would be better to make some thin Birch plywood panels and Ash cappings (Like the Traveller) before veneering.

Wood effect dashboard etc
Not seen it done to a Moggy, but my mate covered his A35's metal dashboard with wood effect stick on fablon
looks effective from a distance but close up I didn't like it... maybe if you got hold of a small piece and had a go you might like it, cheap enough to try anyway.
