1098 dished pistons

Post by pskipper »

After much discussion we've decided that 3 minors are a reasonable number, with Rosie as a project car, returning her to the original police colours and to a certain degree spec.

We'd particularly like to recondition her original police engine but are having real problems finding suppliers of low compression pistons, any suggestions?

Why use low compression pistons ? Just use the normal pistons - the engine will run far better - more power and better economy. Bull Motif seem to have them on their web-site .

Seriously - don't limit your engine by fitting daft 'low compression' pistons ! It will run fine on standard unleaded petrol - and NO additives required - unless you plan v high miles with foot on the floor. In which case - use Tetraboost - which is the ONLY worthwhile additive since it contains tetra-ethyl lead and effectively converts the fule to genuine 'leaded' petrol!

I see your logic, the main attraction of the low compression cylinders was it would be returning the engine to it's original police spec. However as we aren't planning on doing her up as concourse I guess there is no reason to keep the low compression cylinders.

No-one is going to have you take the head off to inspect the pistons - even in complete 'concours' condition!
