How many MMs?
I have just finished a check of the Series MM Register against the DVLA database and I recon there are about 220 Series MMs left "on the road" in UK. This does not include restoration projects which hopefully on day will be add to the total of "taxed" cars.
In order to obtain a more accurate estimate it is important that every owner completes a registration form so that the information can be kept up to date.

Mike,
You do because you are efficient.
Dear Steve,
Thanks for the information on your Series MM. I have added it to the Series MM Register.
Short bonnet, high headlight MMs were more numerous in USA as your lighting regulations meaned that they were fitted to all Series MMs from 1949. Here they were only that design in 1951.The rare cars in USA are the original lowlights since only a few early cars were officially exported. Any others would have been personal imports or from Canada.
Best of luck with you rebuild and let me know if you have any problems
Regards
Michael
Hello Mike,
Here is the details of my MM that I will be restoring this coming
Spring.
Details:
4 Door LHD Mist Green (outside re-painted Metallic green)
Car No. SMM 99918
Engine No. 99313
Stephen G. Kovacs
7010 Yukon Way
Ferndale, Washington
98248
USA
I'm assuming that this car is a transition build car dating Jun 1951
and was imported into Canada that year.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions. Oh,
and thank you again for the info you answered on the forum, it was
very helpful.
Cheers,
Steve

Alan, I do have your car details thankyou. As you are probably aware, the chassis nos. on the plate and bulkhead should be the same. Is there a chance that one is illegible or do you have any documentary evidence such as the original log book or Heritage Certificate to support one or other of the numbers? Also I do not have your contact details, could you email or PM them please.
Thanks
Thanks

Hi Mike,
To further the register, my advice would be to list an
entry onto the Morris Down Under forum as here in Australia
we have many Series MM's.
Especially now as they are really being
appreciated for what they are,
and not as in the past malingned
for what they are not!
There are more and more being put back on the road here.
The link is:

Details of my Series MM Tourer are:
Car No: 78041
Eng: 75423
I think it is a Dec 1950. It was originally black, I think. But now is Maroon.

I have a separate list of about 200 MMs in Aus and NZ. Somebody over there was setting up a register so I forwarded the list. Forgotten who it was, I would have to search back through my old emails.
The trouble with this country is that everyone is paranoid about the data protection act, particularly the MMOC, which makes publishing of records very difficult.
I have just added the list of Series MMs to this website but I have removed names and addresses. What is the attitude over there?

If the owners give their permission to be printed there is no issue Mike. The problems arise if they see their name in print when they weren't asked. That's why all forms have this little box you tick to give permission to pass info onto a third party.mike.perry wrote: I have just added the list of Series MMs to this website but I have removed names and addresses. My Minor:

The Series MM Register is compiled from any source that I can find so the information can often be incomplete but in ten years time the car can turn up again and I can fill in the gaps. It follows that I don't always have contact with the owner as some of the records are purely historical, the car having changed hands or been scrapped. Having checked all the cars against the DVLA database I now have a bet.ter idea of the current MMs

Hi Mike,
Ive just spent a few minutes looking through the register, very interesting. There are definately several more MMs here in Northern Ireland so I will see what details I can find out and pass tham on to you.
This one belongs to Barney Brennan from Co Down who also has a maroon lowlight tourer<br>
