Hi, does anyone have any info on this car. Got it free, still havent got the V5 of the previous keeper as its in his study. I trust him as he is a family friend and a local GP.

On the Rac website it was not very helpfull as it says it was made in 2000 or something!

I've just done the check... the last change of owner was 2003, or so it says.

It's interesting that it should say it's an Austin, made in 0001... :-? It's never been exact for classic cars, but to be this far out is unusual...

Thats what i thought, the owner got it in 2001 of a car dealer who was one of his patients. He got it for free, maybe he had to re-register it. I thought it was odd to say austin. Its a 2 door with 1000 badge on the side. The indicators operate by flashing the rear tail light and side light.

So it's about '62 or something, if the indicators flash the rear brake lights, and there is no amber cover. It may have been re-registered, to poach the plate, but they need to be MoTd for that, think.

I reckon you'll have to get the V5 off him, and see what's what.

[idea] Was it SORN'd in 2003...? I wonder if that might show up as a change of owner... :-? It shouldn't but then... [/idea]

Keep badgering for the V5...

Ignore the manyufacure Date in the RAC site - it is wrong for all Morris minors.
We had this discussion a few times on here already.

Various errors got onto electronic V5's when they updated from the paper system.
Many ppl have typo's in their chassis number etc.. So I would gues the error is on the V5 as well (time will tell)
Interestingly enough, it's the first Minor with a 6 digit plate that I found on the RAC site - maybe they updated it to make it better now.

Post by peatbrown »

This might sound a bit thick, but whats this RAC website that keeps getting mentioned...?

Is it possible to check out the details of vehicles on there? If so what's the address?

Hi, CAS is definitely a fairly recently allocated re-registration and could be non transferable if it wasn't allocated as part of a cherished number transfer.

Just tried the RAC vehicle check! Mine too was built just after the crucifixion, not a bad claim for a car, 2003 years of satisfied motoring!

Everything else was correct though!

In answer to Gareths question, near a little village called Hanley Swan, near the three counties showground.

my car isn't found on the RAC site - should I be worried - it actually has a taxdisk and an MOT and everything - not that you'd know it from these pics!

I shouldn't worry - some details haven't been updated to the system. For classic cars, it's just a bit of fun, really, although a good way of finding out if your old car is still around...

Hanley Swan? I think I've been through there, 'twas pretty. :)
