brake light pressure switches 3 in 2 yrs!

Post by AnimalJack »

Hi, has anyone found brake light pressure switches causing problems a bit too frequently ? I have changed mine three times in 2 yrs ! which seems a bit strange to me ......maybe Ive got the wrong brake fluid in the system. Are they prone to clogging up and can they be cleaned out ?

( Photo - `first coat !` ........ we managed to get two coats on before the weather broke - Hoping to do it properly in the summer)
Image
Regretfully just another example of poor quality parts. The originals lasted for 30+ years, the modern ones seem to just about make 30 days. However, something like a brake light switch should come with a year's warranty so although it's a pain, return it to your supplier and ask for a replacement. It's the only way to get the message home.

Don't keep buying from the same supplier - if they sell you useless parts - go elsewhere!

I think I got through about 5 over 3 years or so. Always return the faulty part to the supplier - it'll put pressure on them to find a better manufacturer.

I got my latest one from an MG specialist in the hope that it'll be decent quality, still working after 6 months anyway but time will tell.
