Starting problems

Post by R_Parr »

Been having a problem for a while now, my car seems to cut out intermitantly so i decided to change the points and spark plugs, and now it won't start.

I've checked the points gap, and made sure i'm getting spark at the plugs, but it still won't start.

Anyone have any ideas what my problem may be?

P.s If i can't solve it does anyone know of a minor specialist in West Yorkshire?

Cheers,
Rhys.

Try the coil and condenser, one at a time. Another possibility is a cracked distributor cap and whilst you are looking at it check the carbon brush in the top. It should be projecting downwards and you should be able to push it in, release it and it will spring out again.

Sure you put the spark plug leads back on in the correct order ? Firing order is 1342 - anti-clockwise around the dizzy cap.
