Convertible Hood Envelope Storage

Post by jaekl »

I've owned a convertible now for 42 years and there is a question that crosses my mine from time to time. Where did the factory put the hood envelope? (top boot over here in the States) For the early ones with the side screens, I've seen pictures of them being stored in a bag and then slipped over the spare but nothing for the envelope.
Does anyone know where it was? Thanks

Hi Jaekl I do not recognise either of those terms could you be more specific or post up a photo.
Cheers

I think jaekl is referring to the tonneau cover. I've just seen them placed in the boot area when not in use. Not sure if there was specific place for them though

It's interesting how both my posts end up to be about terminology. They weren't meant to be.
I'm referring to the item that covers the hood when it is lowered. Here in the States we call it the top boot. I've read elswhere the term hood envelope was used. A tonneau cover usually refers to a cover used to cover an open space, whereas a tonneau can be used to refer to a body surface behind the passenger area. Okay okay enought of oll this.

I want to know when a proud owner of a new Morris Minor convertible decided to lower the hood for the first time, where did they find the item used to cover the folded material?

PS. By carefully following the illustration in the owners hankbook this item I'm inquiring about truly can cover the folder hood. The problem is it takes a few years to understand exactly what is shown. I thought I had it for a while but taking another look at the handbook produced some revisions and now it is very easy.

Yes thats the part i was referring to. We have full tonneau, half tonneau or I guess it could just be a hood cover - still don't know if there was a specific place to store it though :-)
