Britain's Best Drives - New Series on BBC4 Featuring Morris

Post by '61Morris »

I was just flicking through the latest edition of the Radio Times and happened to catch glimpse of a large colour spread of a Morris Minor Traveller! It appears that there is a new series starting on BBC4 next Thursday (19th Feb) called "Britain's Best Drives". It's part of a new BBC4 season called "The Joys of Motoring" to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Britain's first motorway. "Brtain's Best Drives" shows actor Richard Wilson driving all over the UK in seven different classic cars from 50 years ago whilst following a 50-year-old motoring guide. The first episode is on 19th Feb at 8.30pm & shows him driving a Morris Minor Traveller! It should make for very entertaining viewing as apparently he's only ever driven automatics since passing his test in 1981! Check out the link below:

OK. I admit it. It's my Traveller he is driving!

We took William up to Scarborough and Richard Wilson drove around the North York Moors last Summer. The Morris was originally the fourth programme, but apparently now it is on first. There is also a Camper, a Bentley, a TR3, a ford Zodiac and an Austin Cambridge. Its a nice picture of William in the RT though!

Well Steve you should be able to write a piece for us in Eyebolts then as you appear to have kept it under wraps :D

Yes, a piece for Eybolts coming up! They filmed it last Summer, but they wanted to refrain from publicising it at that stage. It was supposed to go out in the Autumn, but kept getting put off. And here's William under wraps.....
