I'm very VERY annoyed

Post by Sidney'61 »

I've been learning to drive for what seems like forever and in my opinion have taken longer than I should to get to test standard, I then turned up for my test on wednesday to find that they had decided to cancel it. I have just got a letter through from the DSA telling me I'm now going to have to wait until the end of March before I can take it.
I'm the youngest in my school year and my family so just about everybody I know can already drive and frankly I'm absolutely fed up of waiting.
So my car will be sitting there on the driveway unused for a couple more months, and thats only if I pass first time :(

Just ask for the first cancelation. This happened to my Daughter due to fog, and she got another test a week later as a priority case - still cost me for another 2 driving lessons though.

You have my sympathy Andy, I know what thats like! Make sure you use this extra time to get in plenty more driving practice. By March the nice light evenings will be appearing and Minor runs will be just about to start.

Hang on in there kid 8)

Hang in there buddy. Find a little project to keep you busy and time will fly by. Once you're legal this will all seem a distant memory.

I think you have to keep calling and pestering them for cancellations. If you're lucky you might get a slot at short notice.

Gutted mate, I remember that feeling exactly, well almost exactly, indescribably frustrating. Did they say why they canceled it?

Snow!
It had mostly gone by wednesday but apparently still not good enough on the side roads, they started the tests again thursday afternoon.

I'll keep checking for cancelations. In the meantime thumbing lifts off school friends :)

Hang in there Andy I do beleive its happened for a reason as psl says I once changed my route going down to haywards heath from going on round the M25 I decided to go down through tonbridge wells I would normally go round dont know why as we always went down M23 but I did. Only to hear 3 minutes after the junction I turned off at one of the largest crashes at the time with many injured and many dead from fire or crushed in the crash it was some of the worst fog I had driven in. some of you older guys may well remember it B ack to my point everything happens for a reason.

Choose another test centre! You can check availabilty of tests at each centre on the internet - on Mondays. There may be tests available in say Arbroath at short notice ! You can also look at the Pass % for each test centre - Thurso has quite a good pass rate (and may not be overbusy with tests !) - Hamilton (nearest to me) has a particularly poor pass rate !!!!

Good luck on your test - you might have passed by the time I get back here... Keep pushing for a cancellation.
Mine was cancelled due to an administration error (they'd double booked) and I got a new appointment the same day (it was a 3 month waiting list)

Every cloud has a silver lining.

At least it means when you go out you won't be driving, which means you can have a drink.

I can remember waiting to get my liscence, it seemed the most important thing on the planet. It really isn't, having fun at your age should be.

It'll come and in the meantime your mates will have to be the drivers and you can be the tipsy passenger.

Bad luck Andy - the same thing happened to my Andy a few years ago but we just went on line and booked it for a week later, but I guess there has been a lot of disruption probably 100's of canceled tests this time.

March isn't so bad - just keep checking- If you phone up they will tell you if there any gaps not shown on the web.

Good luck next time
