Car insurance tends to go up in proportion to hp gain so in theory if you go from 48 (1098) to 61 (1275) then you are looking at paying Approx 25% more in premiums. That's how AON do it anyrate.

Welcome aboard Luke :D I can't speak for myself as I only have a slightly tarted up 1098, but a few of my mates have 1275 minors and they are insured through AON and are on around £350. You can't really tell the difference between 1098 and 1275 anyway  :D . We are all 21 btw.

I have loads of pics luke as it is currently undergoing a large resto ready for the summer season. I will be starting a thread of progress either in General Discussion or Custom & Modified. Watch out in the next few days mate. Btw forgot to say my insurance is £300 with a tweaked 1098

I am 21 and currently fully comp with HIC (no years no claims) in my 1275 (A+) is £299 (the excess is only £50). The car is also parked on the street.

If you cant tell the difference between a 1098 and 1275 you weren't pushing the loud pedal far enough into the Axminster

Except that its taller, longer, has a different carb, manifold, air filter, breather system and oil filter and would originally have been painted black instead of green :-)

Picky  I'm sure everyone here can tell the difference but from a general insurers point of view they basically look the same (at first glance).

thats why I painted my engine red so it might look green if you were colour blind.. :D

Indeed at first glance that may be true, however, if you have a prang and the vehicle ends up being inspected the guy that comes to look at it won't be so slow in these areas and you could end up having your insurance invalidated :-(

I did the prang thing!

but my insurance company knew all about the modfications brakes, engine, alloy wheels, interior etc... the only thing they increased my insurance premium for was because i fitted metro seats! but I was about 30 at the time and it was only about 20 pounds a year

It's always best to tell you're insurance company of any mods or ring them for a quote before you get the work done. Goes without saying really
