This is where it gets contentious. If you drive like a good Moggy owner should, accelerating and, more importantly, due to your abysmal standard brakes, slowing down gently, then you ARE going to get cut up & sworn at, simple fact of life. Not only Moggy owners but any one in a Nissan Micra will also find the same (never seen one driven fast yet). If however you drive with the traffic and place yourself well, rather than apologetically keeping the gutter, then you are more likely to be accepted on the road!

Wih a few, cheap, well chosen mods you can get fairly close.

Whilst stopped at traffic lights a Jag owner wound down his electric windows to inform me that I shouldn't be allowed to drive an "old heap" like that. The lights changed and he was left at the lights ! I never exceeded the speed limit I think he was a bit put out as he had to follow me for about 3 miles with no overtaking - shame

I find that people think they just have to be in front of you because you're in older car and will bust their guts trying to get there. My most recent experience started off a bit scary with a guy following me all the way home from the shops. I pulled into my garage, leapt out and met him coming up the drive. I was friendly, but wary. Turns out he wanted to buy Beanie. I politely declined the offer and we ended up having a great chat about Moggies and cars in general.

I had just the same but he was very determined to buy the bidding started at 2k and ended at 3.5k in the end he left me with his number incase I changed my . after 27yrs of owning morris it is part of family and I think my son would divorce me if I sold

I was out for a ride the other week when a Rover 45 took great pleasure in overtaking me at speed,how impressive? i just thought watch your head gasket!what is so good about burning out a 40 year old car?

There's too many people out there making assumptions about what they are going to meet en-route, driving to the limits of thier vehicle and to h**l with everyone else. I've lost count of how many drivers I've met speeding down roads that are only just twice as wide as their vehicle. The look on their face is priceless as they slam on the brakes when they meet a 7.5 ton lorry!
One bloke in Wiltshire left a skidmark (tyre only - I think

) 10m long and stopped about 1m from my bumper. His face said it all as he reversed 500yds backwards to the first passing place:lol:

Of course if you flipped your sidelights on for a sec they would (hopefully!) just brake suddenly

I've just caught up on this thread and I am sooo glad that it's not just me that gets the cut up treatment. In my daily drive (around 40ish miles) I lose count of the times other drivers try to barge me off the road. There was one particular car that did it to me regularly going through Rochester, often going in the right hand only lane and through the red filter light just to get one car in front. My brother has been dragged from the diver's seat of our trav by an irate diver who purposefully drove into the side of it because he hadn't 'let him out' of a turning ( the police did not want to know of course!) But occasionally and I MEAN occasionally you get someone who will give a smile or wants to have a chat, which makes all the other stuff fade away.....for a while! I have noticed that I get much better treatment in the convertible......not sure why.....

Somebody mouthed 'Beautiful' about the car when I was outside a supermarket in Olney yesterday.

Last week a car full of Eastern European chaps followed me so close for about 15 miles. Got me a bit nervous.

The thought crossed my mind that I have no way of locking the drivers door from inside if a situation called for protection.

Realised they were filming the car and got particularly excited when I used the trafficators.

Gave a superb thumbs up and waved when I pulled over to park and they passed by. Still filming.

A lorry pulled up beside me at a roundabout and the Irish driver said can I make you an offer for that car? I must have it as I want to drive it all over Ireland.

Local teenagers love it too. I would have thought they'd think it was boring.

I only seem to attract the attention of the more 'mature' man when I'm driving mine!

Someone offered to buy my car when they pulled alongside me at traffic lights. Unfortunately the lights changed before I could ask how much they were offering
