What fantastic attention our morris minors attract

Had do pick somebody up from town last night, full of rather drunk people. The car had a bit of admiration which was nice, turned off to the center of town which was deserted (all pubs are on the outskirts of the town) apart from 4 students I go over the first speed bump look in my rear view mirror and I have somebody running full pelt very aggressively behind me in the middle of the road. I wasn't sure if he wanted to pat me on the back for driving such a fine motor, lick the car or put a dent in it. Judging by his body language and determination I'd say he wanted to put a dent in it. Fearing for my cars safety I did what anybody would have done took the car out of gear coasted down the hill and broke until the car was with in a whisker of him I then maintained this distance for around 15m, judging by the look on his face he was getting rather tired, I dangled the carrot in front of him for another couple of meters until I saw him mouth "oh f**k it".

He then proceeded to bend over double and support his upper body with his hands resting on his bent knees. I took this opportunity to further tantalize him by stopping the car about 2m in front of him. Unfortunately he didn't take the bate.

I've been lucky enough to have driven a verity of nice cars in the 3 years I have been driving but they have never attracted this sort of attention, was this a one off or has anybody experienced anything similar? I've noticed the car seems to instill a lovely desire in people to cut me up on roundabouts so much so that when I first got the car I had a friend check the indicators were working twice in the first hour.

Reckon you're a marked man!! Upsetting someone like that in an easily identified car, wouldn't go to town next saturday night if I were you Biggest problem I have is waiting to turn right onto a main road, often notice the car I'm waiting to let go before I pull out has slowed down to rubber neck, so closing up all the gaps behind him

It seems this chap was quite intent in his goal,what a bizarre fellow :S

From what I've experienced Minor's elicit quite a mixed response, I don't know if it comes with being under 30 and owning one ( with further thought it's probably my emo'ish fringe, bloody emo ruined my hair cut forever ;) ) but I've been followed by cars with the occupants calling me all the names under the sun. Also the poor old Winchester has been egged on a couple of occasions ( usually after I've given him a good clean ).

On the whole though these things don't happen very often and for each negative incident there's 20 positive ( it seems everyone or their relative has at some point owned a minor )

Some people just react a bit funny when they see something not of the norm.

In Gwent I've found young and old, drunk or sober interested and prepared to have a discussion/joke about the Minor

Yes, mine gets lots of attention, we parked up next to MgCanns last week to get a new battery for the moggy, while I'm standing there waiting a had a few people come over to have a look and admire, then a corsa full of 'chavs' pulls up over the road and the kid winds down the window and shouts 'what engine you got in there mate?'
It certainly attracts a variety of people, young and old.

I get lots of admiring comments from people old enough to reminice about the old days but a suprising amount of young people pass positive comments about it. I have yet to have anyone take the mick out of it. On the first day i owned MEA i should have known things would be a little different.I left her for 5 mins and when i came back a mum was taking a picture of her son in front of the car. The attention is GREAT.

Well I am glad to see this happening to you lot as well I go shopping I get horns blowing and thumbs up I went down to Lincoln the other day some lad in front climbed over the front seat lifted the canvass flap on the rear his mums jeep and started filming morris through Lincoln Last year went into town got blue lighted by mr plod another cut my front off [politly] they both got out and started taking photos with my permission of course [good to keep in with them guys] I often drop my lad off late fri annd sat nights in town and I can honestly say I have had nothing but good to say of the young of today. most tell my lad see your dad or text him if I,m in town lucky I,m not up to no good

I seem to have alot of interest shown while driving. What does annoy me though, is when I am closing on a slower vehicle and a faster car slows down to have a look and they sit on the offside corner so you can not overtake

This sort of thing must be rare, fortunately I have only ever encountered positive attention, in fact a group of four blokes in a German registered Audi nearly ran into my lane last year.This was not out of aggression, it was because they were all smiling, waving and trying to film us on their mobiles (including the driver).

Nice to hear your minors get such nice attention! I'm not sure, I think people expect it to crawl across the round about and don't look as they commit. It got some lovely attention today so that seems to have evened things out.

Some people just naturally assume that as you are in an old car you will be going slow, therefore feel it's ok to cut you up as they don't want to be stuck behind you.
That can be a problem in the standard minor so driving a modified one can make it even worse.

So true. Within a short space of time I would drive up to 5 different vehicles on the same roads from my bike up to a 7.5 ton truck. The way drivers behave towards you is sooooo dependant on what your driving at the time and you have to anticipate this or suffer the consequences - be it a prang or fuming road rage!

Why a 1275 lump (or more) is essential.
Blip the throttle and leave them stranded with nowhere to go. I've done it, theres nothing funnier than watching them have to go right round because you moved quicker than a Minor should!

I'm looking forward to that when my 1275 is in. I never really have a problem with people cutting me up or slowing me down when I'm commuting. I often over take by sling-shoting the minor, people don't tail gate me either which is a perk. I've never driven it on the motorway or dual carriage way though.
