But the important thing is the contributions from the active board members so we hopefully encourage people to use the board as there are some that feel incomfortable asking questions that they feel we might regard as silly when that's not the case at all.

I agree totally, as kevin says, the new member may feel as though their question is silly, but we would never treat them as such. Judge says no such thing as a silly question, also so true. I have been in so many situations where the new bloke asks the 'silly' question and lots of older hands await the answer with interest.
I think the original suggestion to map members is a good idea and, as the technology has been offered by those that have it, could we not accept the offer?
I think it would be a usefull addition to the site.
