let us know where you live
Just agreed with Grandad on an idea of people putting the town they live in. It would really help to know if someone was near to as much as coming on the forum who could offer or recieve help with the same intrest Morris Minor,s. Just an idea but can understand if someone want,s to stay quiete on there address. Just think what a suprise it would be if someone lived in same street or town

I realise that but by putting it forward as a thread It may make people update their profile thus get to make more local friends with same intrests. Its great to come on site and get fantastic advice but if someone in your area /town said I,ll come around and show you how to do it wouldn,t that be great I have had offers of help but from a distance. I did not mean to suggest it made compulsary

I know what you meant but I'd still feel a little paranoid about putting any further information in, this town is so small you could pretty much pin point the location of the car from a photo on my drive.toginthemog wrote:it doesnt mean to give your full address just your location ie town or village instead of county once you get to know your local enthusiast its up to you to pass your address
It would be rather handy to know other locals on here, I find my self amassing spare parts and would be more than happy to donate them if it got somebody's minor running or lend something I've got spare until they got the part.

Re: let us know where you live
This has been mentioned quite a few times in the past and I often put a reply to new posters asking them to fill in their whereabouts as I feel its of real use for the reasons given.toginthemog wrote:Just agreed with Grandad on an idea of people putting the town they live in. I can understand some peoples reluctance but at least a County would help.
The other thing is that if you live in a real backwater and are worried about people finding out, dont you think they will all know as driving a Moggie around

Cheers

Looking at the old thread The Minor Site did offer to host something similar on this site but the offer wasn't taken up.
Surely though only those that are happy to post their location would actually use the facility to show their location on a map therefore it wouldn't actually make any difference whether there was a map or not.
If you want to know if there are any Minor owners local to you probably the best thing to do is to join your local branch. Only a relatively small percentage of Minor owners actually use this site so the chances of finding someone who lives in the same street or village must be very slim. In any case you would probably already know them if they lived that close to you

Wonder how many of those are active members though, rather than those who post just once or twice, maybe to sell something, then disappearaccording to the memberlist there are currently 4989 members on the site ( that means a milestone coming up VERY soon) of which 1457 have given their location albeit the county or country

What I was referring to was your remark that you liked what had been used on the Minor Site, all explained now.rob.hardy1 wrote:Plagiarism is defined as "Passing off someone else's work as your own".

You made me wonder as Well LouLouiseM wrote:Wonder how many of those are active members though, rather than those who post just once or twice, maybe to sell something, then disappearaccording to the memberlist there are currently 4989 members on the site ( that means a milestone coming up VERY soon) of which 1457 have given their location albeit the county or country
Unfortunately 1,412 with no posts 1,058 with one post.
The single posters are probably selling something but the no posters that is puzzling.
