Hello Friends.

I was replacing the carpets today and on the drivers side floor at the back there are two holes in the inner sill.

And one over the cross member on the passenger side.

If i got the parts is there anyone on here that lives near evesham that could come and repair it for me.

unlimited tea and coffe available and of course i will pay you the going rate.

it may be able to be patched, ie cut rust out and butt weld a new bit of metal

Hello Aup I like that idea.

I have replaced the water pump as well today so now there is heat in the car.

I think the rust was caused by water.

I own a 1974 MG Midget 1275 in Teal Blue "Midget" is what we call him and he is in very good to excellant condition "midget" is a Chrome bumper/Round Wheel arch model.

Hi James were the old carpets wet if so (I will assume its a saloon as you dont say) the most common source of a water leak is the rear window rubber which can also cause issues underneath the seat which can really only be seen by removing the seat base (it just pulls/wiggles out) and then look through use a torch if necessary to see if there are any problems there, however if the carpets were dry please ignore the above unless you just want to check of course.

dodgy rear window seals also tend to destroy the junction between the rear inner wings and the bodyshell and as well as the very rear-most spring mountings ... personally I'd check with a small hammer or a pointy screwdriver rather than a torch, but then I'm a destructive little chuffer when it comes to rust!

One simple sign of rusty arches is bubbling around the rubber strip where the outer arch meets the body.
