Does anyone know of a free pc registry download that will repair one pc registry and not just scan it then then tell you you have X amount of issues but for them to clear them you have to pay.

I use something called "Cleansweep" which came with a pc I bought years ago - I've used it on every pc ever since. Not sure if it's free but I have a disc which was bundled with the original pc....?

What errors are you getting?
Take no notice of web sites that say you may have a problem. They are just trying to sell you something you don't need.
Be even more careful of sites that say you have a virus many of these will infect your PC with some very nasty Trojans.
Use task manager to close any windows they pop up as clicking anywhere on the pop up may cause bad thing to happen :(

Makes for an interesting reading about how some of these work.

I use AVAST - it's free and seems to work very well indeed with daily updates. I also have SPYBOT running - I think it is free too - I certainly didn't pay for it, but it was installed on my machine by a computer expert after my machine became virus infected! It's now clean as a whistle!

I use CCleaner by Piriform. It's free and made my old pc noticably faster (on XP). I mainly use it to get rid of temp files & rubbish.

It has a registry cleaner with backup facility.

There are folks who warn against registry cleaners. I don't know enough to have an opinion. When I've used it, I always back up first; I've never had any problems on both XP & Vista.
