Fast & Slow!

Post by croft »

Just got the engine running today in a recently purchased project and all seemed well. I pulled off the oil breather cap just to see if it was breathing heavy and the revs increased! Put it back on and it slowed! is this normal?

I would guess the breathers are blocked somewhere in the system....

It could be running rich or the air filter could be very dirty.

Yes - quite normal. The good news is there was obviously no plume of smoke/fume - so the engine would seem to be in good condition!

Thanks guys, I will change the air filter and check the breather pipe when this snow disappears!! I know I should have spent some time replacing filters, oils etc but after turning it over by hand the temptation to try and start it was to great!! Will give it a quick run up the road once the snow goes and see what else I find!
