Tyre storage

HI all I have plenty of tyres piled up in my garage, now someone told me that tyres will sort of expire if unused after certain time, is this true?? Thanks

They say that after 5 years they start to degrade.....

It depends how they are stored. If they are left flat on the car out in the weather then they would not last very long. If they are stored in the dry shade then they would last a lot longer. If you can see small cracks in the sidewalls chuck them out.

At least keep them out of the sun. But - ozone gets to them anyway - may be worthwhile sealing them up in black plastic bags.
