Was trying to fit some slot mags to Nancy earlier and found that the studs don't line up in the holes! The hub is standard and have been told the wheels had a 4" PCD, but they don't fit. Am I doing something wrong?
Hopefully the pic at the bottom shows what I mean.

Looking at the picture, if you turn the wheel clockwise it might centralise the studs, it looks as if sleeve nuts are required, that's why the studs in the picture are all over the place, the nuts will centralise, but only if the pcd of the studs and wheel are identical, not near enough! Some people just hold a rule against a wheel and say 4inches whereas it might be a mm size when measured properly.
My wheels use sleeve nuts with the sleeve diameter measuring 0.621in diameter (this locates in the wheels with a 0.625in bore hole) So there is not a lot of room for error!
I would imagine it would be quite difficult to 'line them up' to take a photo.
Have you got the correct fixings for these wheels?
If you have try them! you will soon find out if the PCD is correct!
I have the sleeve nuts for the wheels and they fit through the holes and are the right thread size. When you tighten one up, the others are no where near center, more right at the edge of the holes. I did measure the PCD and it came out at what looked like 101.6 but I might try and measure it with calipers tomorrow.
Doesn't look like it will line up to me - use a steel rule or indeed Vernier caliper for an accurate measure. Any chance the studs have been bent at some time in the past ?
What gets me is that there are two small holes that fit exactly over the screws in the drum so would have assumed that the wheels are for these hubs/drums?!
I'm still waiting for info regarding the other pair of slot mags from the same seller. I asked the seller to confirm they don't foul the front upright, and he said he would try them. This makes me think he has never fitted them to a Minor, so i'd suggest they are the wrong pcd - money back time.
Hi plastic orange, the slots don't foul the uprights but that is the least of my worries I've just put the calipers on them and they seem to me to be 4x100" PCD (ford?) so they definitely are not going to fit. Annoying that such a small measurement stops them from fitting, oh well Unless anyone wants a set of slots for a FORD then I will be getting a refund. I really do need another set that fits though as I already have some for the back and wanted the fronts to match.
100 mm isn't Ford - Ford is 108mm I believe. I think it was a genuine mistake on the part of the seller, but perhaps he should have made sure he'd actually fitted them to a Minor before advertising.
I should have checked that all four nuts would tighten up properly before selling them as 4" PCD. My apologies.
As the nuts are sleeved I would double check by fitting all four nuts on the wheel and see if that lines them up properly. If its no good then I will of course sort out a refund for you.
Plastic_orange, the other pair are slightly different, I will now check they actually fit the minor wheel by fitting the nuts aswell.
At least they will be easy to sell if they are 100mm, but they look so old that I assumed they must be an imperial size

Tim, if the other set are different and fit the minor hub any chance of a straight swap? I have put all four nuts on but they miss the holes unfortunately as the studs are on the outside edge of the holes:(
The only obvious difference between the two sets of wheels are that the other two dont have the extra two small holes inbetween the mounting holes. I dont know if the PCD is any different. I have already reserved the other set for plastic_orange, who had the foresight to ask that I check the PCD first
I am home next weekend and will ascertain whether they are 4" PCD or not, and then go from there if thats ok?
