dynamo bearing

the dynamo on my 53 sidevalve has a worn pulley end bearing is there a modern equivalent replacement and would anyone have a part no or where can I get original replacement

I changed my bearing way back and as I remember you need to drill out the retaining rivets (to be replaced with screws/nut + locktite) Take the bearing into a proper bearing shop, should be able to get a replacement. You might have to warm the ally end casting to get it off.

got the bearing sorted then spotted that the brushes were worn went to look for new brushes also the bush at that end was bably worn went back to motor factors looking for brushes was going to leave bush as did not think i would get one no brushes in motor factors but guy said his dad recond alt and starters he had brushes and bush living here 16 years did not know he was around when i got home decided to turn down commutator on my wood turning lathe now dynamo is very quiet

Result! Nice to keep all the original bits. Parts like starters and dynamos have dates on and are part of the vehicles past.

As you probably know the C39 brushes are a different size to the C40 brushes
