tyres for slot mags

Post by ratrodmog »

Evening guys
Can someone suggest were to get some half decent tyres from for my slots. The ones I had are shot so I'm after some more, nothing crap but doesn't have to be amazing.
Front- 13x5.5". 144-60-13 or close
Rear- 14x8". 205-70-14 or close
Any other suggestions of different sizes?
Cheers all

145 section sounds a bit narrow for 5.5 wide wheels. Would normally fit 165/175 on that rim. Just search ebay for bargain tyres ! Overall - this is not going to give you a very well balanced car!

Fit 175 or 185/70 x13's for the 51/2's, and a minimum of 205's on the rear - better with 60 profile though.
Check this site out to help you out (Tyre section of course):

The above recommendation gives a very similar rolling circumference with the rear only slightly taller.

I would suggest 185s on the front and the 205s on the rear

From my limited experience, 175's are no problem on 5.5" rims.

but its also a case of balance really...

Personally with 205s on the back I would want 185 or wider on the front

Do you think the car would be unbalanced with this combo of wheels Matt?

I don't, if you go for what I recommended.

What offset are these wheels, this will also determine the tyre width. I agree with Pete's suggested sizes, but I feel that the 205's on the wrong offset will require wider or extended rear arches
