insurance

Post by callyspoy »

hi, i know this is sort of a common question, especially with this group.But...i will be fitting the Fiat twin sometime next month, and will from then be needing to sort out insurance. as i'm only 23 i wouldn't imagine it will be cheap, but i do need it as cheap as possible as i am poor! cue violins playing sympathetically in the background...
so, does anyone have any ideas as to where to get good insurance for a modified car? and also, what sort of prices to expect.
thanks in advance

The only company I found that are willing to insure me on my modified minor are AON, under the club scheme. However, that is just a 1275...

They are both part of the same company now but they still seem to do completely different quotes and act as separate companies.

HIC deal primarily with classics and modified cars, we're insured through them, they're owned by Adrian Flux and the claims department have been very good. They were adamant they would beat any other insurance quote as well (and they did). I think that £299 fully comp no years no claims and two male drivers (21 and 23) is pretty good for a 1275 minor, but other may disagree. (I think mileage is limited to 12,000 though)

okay, well i am with HIC already, so it may be worth asking them, i just didn't imagine they would deal with something like that. and yes, i think your insurance is pretty cheap, cheaper then mine anyway!

My son insured his twin cam minor through the NSRA site - he was around £300 when he was 21 (now 25). You have to be a member first though, and then get a valuation report done and then apply for insurance. Their scheme is very competitive in my opinion. I insure my V8 minor through the NASC club, but they don't take anyone under 25 I believe.

if you call flux I use a guy called Stuart on the red team who is a pretty nice guy to deal with and not too pushy. There are various clubs that get discount with them, The one that im a menber of is called "matey matey" from when I used to have a modified polo. although matey matey are not an owners club ;), surprizing too that there is no promo code either ;)

flux wouldn't do anything as they are a sister company of HIC and they wouldn't beat the quote! couldn't believe it!

Cheers again Pete!

Bit of thread trwling paid off!
NSRA club scheme gave me an amazing low quote of £190 for a 3.5 Minor. Kinda not so good when you compair it to my £38 policy for my traveller with RH!!
