hey
I was just wondering if anyone has any idea wot might be wrong with mine. because iv been told that the brake and clutch should be independant of one another, except recently i have noticed that under heavy braking and changing gear the clutch pedal doesnt seem to return and becomes stiff until the pressure on the brake pedal has been removed. any ideas?

they are both on the same shaft, so it is possible that the pedals are seizing up on the shaft, try some oil,

It needs oiling! The pedals are close together and a common shaft with bush never gets oiled. You will need to lift the carpet and the little plate over the master cylinder - then make free with the oil can while moving the pedals. The return spring on the brake pedal may also have broken.

Not unknown! Opposite is true as well - bush and shaft become very worn and pedals flap about!

Is it "just" a matter of taking the spindle out, or do I recall a bit of "split pin in a confined space" coming into it??

Quite a job - oiling and wiggling should do it!

Unless the shaft to chassis bushes are worn you should not need to dismantle anything. Just go for it with the oil can. The more you pour over the inside of the chassis, the better the rust protection.

hello everyone.
thanks for the advice yesterday i have oiled the shaft and the whole of that chassis leg as well. The clutch pedal definately feels smoother as does the brake, but whilst wiggling i did notice that the brake pedal had a little bit of play under pressure. not a big problem atm but i will have to keep an eye on it.
Thanks again, it appears to have worked and is now rust proof.
