Renewing your Picture Driving Licence?

Post by baggy »

RENEWING YOUR DRIVING LICENCE

Plastic driving licences, which were first introduced in 1998 expire after ten years to stop photographs going out of date and to stop licences being used fraudulently. Motoring organisations say that few people realise that their licence needs renewing after ten years.

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) will send you a renewal application pack two months before your photo is due to expire and renewal will cost you £17.50. Drivers who fail to pay, and use out-ofdate
documents could be charged with failing to surrender a licence and fined up to £1,000.

If, for any reason, you don t receive the renewal application pack you can use the D1 application for a driving licence . This is available from DVLA form ordering service, and Post Office branches. You can check the expiry date of your photo in section 4b on the front of your driving licence.

Full licence renewal details can be found on

I sent my old non picture one off to, er, have some points added, and it came back fine, other than the three points that is. No suggestionthat it should be changed to a photo one. Putting that off for as long as poss. Another unnessacery over complicated government bit of red tape.
cheers
Iain

Same here ( ) - paper one's fine for me, until I move house!
Some people are like slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you throw them downstairs.
