ive installed a radio (and amp) in to my minor convertable and now when the engine is running i get a high pitched "whizzing" noise that increases with engine revs
im told this might be to do with the alternator (fitted last year) and will need some sort of suppressor?
ive asked all the local car shops and they dont have any suppressors
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

try a short drive with the fan belt off to check it really is the alternator. I would have though modern alternators are supressed; I dont have any extra suppressor on my alternator and the radio works fine.

I was just looking through the workshop manual in preparation for replacing the front bearings and in one of the diagrams was a little spring and screw that is in the hub. The description of the diagram stated that these were for models with radios fitted. I don't know if that helps at all. Something to do with anti-static.
