new owner in bolton having problems

Post by winterhillkev »

hi i have a friend who has recently bought a 62 moggie and he is having brake problems and is not very mechanically minded , is there anyone in the bolton manchester area who could have a look for him and point him in the right direction, or fancies a foreighner , car is off road till summer and is in a garage, i could do it myself but i have 2 many of my own projekts of my own needing work, and i recomended it would be better if an minor enthusiast could sort it out for him than paying the local garage who have no experience of working on a vehicle like this, many thanks kev

First advice would be to buy a Workshop Manual and have a look through it to see what is what. Your friend is going to need to learn basic servicing even if he gets help with the larger jobs.

Manual can be downloaded form my website for free, no £4 rip off prices via ebay for exactly the same manual on CD. If you search there are also a number of other sites which have the manual for free download. www.morris-1000.co.uk

I'm no mechanic, in fact I wasn't interested in maintaining cars. After starting to delv into the moggy I have... it's actually good fun. Everything is designed to do it's job in it's simpliest form.. not like modern cars. :)

my friend is not confident enough to tacke the brakes he has just bought the car as he has just come into some money and allways wanted a minor, the car has had new brake pipes but now wont hold pressure on the brakes , so it needs either a new master cylinder or wheel cylinder, or maybe a new flexible brake pipe, there must be someone local who knows his way round a minor who could help him out for some cash and a few mugs of tea,
