How many Minors?

Post by Blaketon »

Does anyone know roughly how many of the 1.6 million Minors built are still being used (Or are in the process of being restored)?

definitely being used. It's either that or walk to work and it's a 50 mile round trip :D and the occasional 200 mile business journey

No saltophobia here, but I really do try to keep on top of the waxoyl etc.

Well I am sure I saw a few years ago that there were 35,000 with MOT's (road useable for those overseas) but as for being restored I wouldn't like to guess, there is one of my branch members with over a dozen in various conditions and only a couple have current MOT's and a few others with more than one and with a large number of owners not even in the club I dont suppose the true number is likely to be known.
Cheers

I heard in a tv interview the guess was about 75,000 either on the road or in restoration (world wide). This is a guess though based on the number of MMOC members and how many minors they tend to have on average. It is then left open as to how many are used, stored, locked in barns, garages or indeed left in fields by non members as to how many are actually left.

But the number was just a guess so could in fact be way off.....

That is quite a number considering it's not been made for nearly forty years.

Both my Traveller and Series MM are on the road. The Traveller is the daily workhorse and the MM is used when the weather is milder, unless one of the cars is off the road for maintenance.
They both need a wash but I don't feel like getting the hose and power wash out this weather.
