Crazy snow in Portland Oregon

For those who may not know, the weather in Portland is usually very similar to London. However, we've had about 20 inches of snow in the last week, the most at one time in the last 15 years or so. The Morris is not happy

It's still coming down out there. Now they are saying this is the most snow we've had in December here since 1968! I was just out to get some supplies at the store, and people were cross-country skiing and snowshoeing back and forth. Luckily most people are smart enough not to try and drive around in this. Portland is very unprepared for this type of weather, I think there is only 1 snowplow to go around for the whole city.

I've had the pleasure (displeasure?) to drive a Minor in that kind of weather and I certainly 'learned' a few things - especially as I was a young enthusiastic (and inexperienced) driver at the time!
I remember winters like that in the Midlands but we don't seem to get them anymore. These days the whole country comes to near stand still with 2" of snow. We had schools closed in Leamington last year 'due to threat of snow' (it didn't snow...)

That level of snow was quite common here too, and my Minors were out in these conditions. My wife's one would go just about any where in these conditions, but mine with a lot more power just remained stationary with wheelspin - even in top gear.

A Minor isn't that bad in the snow. Quite fun actually, of course have a set of chains handy, then you can go thru anything. A couple people in the back seat and snow tires is a good combination too.
Here on the East coast the winters are a lot warmer and dryer then they were 40 some years ago. I think that is starting to cycle back again.

Merry Christmas to all in Sadmog country, well do I remember christmas in Bournemouth 1944 the locals opened their homes and hearts to us we had a very warm christmas in return we(canadians) arranged for snow,the first seen for some years.We had a blast! I was on R&R at the time and then it was all over. HAPPY NEW YEAR to all.
