Steering Rack recon parts.

Post by wanderinstar »

Does anyone know where I can get hold of internal parts to recondition my steering rack. I am thinking of the locking washers for the ball housings also the pad, spring and housing for the n/side secondary damper, they are missing on it. When you contact part suppliers they only do the recon. rack, track rod ends and rubber boots. Some dont even do the metal circlips now, in favour if the zipper clips.

I doubt you will get these bits now Ian - the 'reconditioners' wuill just junk a rack missing these parts. Only hope may be if Mini parts are the same ?

MG specialists may be able to help. IIRC midget racks are the same but handed (LHD Minor on a RHD Sprite).
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

But mini specialists seem to be like minor ones and don't list much more than recon racks, TRends and rack gaiters. Will try the MG suppliers.

Just checked out Moss, they have everything I want listed. Have sent them an email to see if they have stock. Fingers crossed.
