Useful website?

Does anyone know of a website that will tell you a rough location from a dialing code?

There can be some problems with that as some code designation are spread over more than one exchange I know of one that is spread over 5 exchange areas, but if it is you are after a rough guide it would not be to bad, I dont know if they are all listed anyway what with all the different service providers, the telephone directory always used to have a list of all the major ones in the front of them, but I doubt all are listed as some have less than 100 subscribers/customers, have you looked in your local directory.

I just do a google search by typing in "01442" (That one is an example of course!) and check the "UK Websites Only" button then click search. You'll find a load of companies and such with their phone numbers with their address on the pages and you'll find out from there where the post code is for.

A brilliant piece of lateral thinking. Thanks!

Alternatively go to the BT website, go to the private rather than commercial bit and they have and area code (or STD) search engine which will give all the main towns with that code.

Hello all,
BT sell a booklet with the dialling codes so you can identify the area.

Kevin,
Personally I don't think they should allow anyone to post in the for sale sections if their profile doesn't contain an area..

Funny you should mention that... All the For Sale forums now have a Notice to Posters to avoid the wrath of Ray and Kevin...

Have to see if it works now...
Happy Minoring!

I doubt it somehow. even if there was a big sign in big flashing neon letters filling up half the screen saying "read this first" people would still just dive straight in!
