Post by Kevincolley »

Hi all

As some of you are aware I currently live on the Isle of Wight, and I will be heading back to Stockport (south Manchester) on this saturday 20th for the christmas break, it is a journey of just over 300 miles.

if anybody would like to meet up enroute for some off the sections you are more than welcome to join me and moggy.
The basic outlined details and route are below:

Depart Portsmouth harbour @ 6.00 am ish
head down the M27 towards southampton
at j2 take the A36 north to Bath
at bath take A4 to Bristol and follow roads round to M4
At M4 j21 go to M48 Severn Bridge (toll) (there is a service station on the west side, i plan to stop and refuel here, at arround 10.30ish)
follow signs for chepstow and A466 Monmouth
take A466 through the wye valley (possible stop at tintern abbey)
At Monmouth take the A40 to Ross on Wye and turn onto the A49 for hereford
Continue on the A49 to shrewsbury and turn onto the A5 for Oswestry
follow A5 and continue on the A483 Wrexham, Chester (hopefully arround 15.00hrs)
Follow A483 to A55 manchester M53
join the M56 for Manchester
Continue along M56 and join Manchester Ring Road M60, come off at junction 1 arrive in tesco carpark and re fuel (arriving 16.30-1700 ish)
End of run

cheers
