Hi everyone
I think its me being a bit thick but on my rear axle I have a drain hole but no filler or level hole but there is one on the Dif at the front of the axle could you please tell me if that is the fill and level plug.
Thanks Bob
You have an early casing which should have a diff with the filler hole in it.
It appears that someone has replaced the diff with a later unit which does not have a filler (in this type the filler is in the back plate of the diff housing.
How they filled it correctly with oil is a mystery.

Hi Jonathon
I thought the dif looked clean, no it does not leak but I have not checked it yet, at least I know how to top it up now, and the filler plug is the level plug as well.
Bob
Hi
OK I will let you off then, I hope you get well soon with Christmas coming up. if my wife doesn't mind I will be spending my Christmas with Rosie my MM
Cheers
Bob
The fun starts for you if you dcide to upgrade to a 4.22 -or 3.9/3.7 diff - because they have no filler plug, and neither does your axle case! So if you do that swap - you can either fill it blindly through the breather hole - or drill/tap and fit a new filler plug in the casing - or of course - fit a complete later axle !!

I have no filler plug on one of mine. Just jack up on one side and pull the halfshaft - Pour oil down axle tube. Capacity is 1 litre.
