Just read Ray's very informative tips on removal of master cyl and have slight mod to the technique which takes the 'grunt' out of it.
Source two G cramps and a small plank of wood about 1" thick, 6" wide and 2"or 3" longer than the chassis rail is broad.
USE SOUND WOOD!
Lay the plank at right angles across the underside of the chassis rail in line with the end of the gearbox cross member.
Use one G cramp to brace the torsion bar against one end of the plank.
If you position the other G cramp at the other end of the plank you'll see that it will fit neatly into the void in the cross member.
Tighten both cramps until the whole setup is stable.
Now tighten the cramp on the torsion bar, which will bend down nicely out of the way and will sit there all day for you.
